The play panel resides in a frame by default now in V3. I normally use it as floating window, which is possible. But when I close and re-open the panel, it always goes back into the initial frame position.
It would be fine to save the last position and re-open it at the same place.

Comments

This patch seems not be added to the actual Prerelease.
Is there a special reason for this? Or just forgotten?
At least the problem persists.

A fix hasn't been added to the actual prerelease/master branch until it's marked as fixed. This is marked as patch, which means I've found a way to fix it, but due to the sheer number of pull requests (patches awaiting acceptance) it can take anywhere from a few days to a few months for a patch to become an official 'fix'.

I'd like to re-open this issue: when closing MuseScore, the play panel always goes back to it's default position. Other panels (e.g.Mixer) restores the position and MS 2 also restores it for the play panel.
The default position is not ideal in my opinion.

What I see is that play panel becomes embedded each time you reopen MuseScore despite on the position before closing the editor. Is it the case you are referring to?

FWIW, part of the new expanded workspace facility is to alow layout of the GUI to be saved there rather than globally. Probably those changes are related here.

The pull request was merged so the change should be in version 3.1 when it gets released.

I just tried V3.1 beta. Again, when closing MuseScore and re-open it, the play panel is presented in the default position, not where it resided before closing the software.
I tried both: a floating position and also a position in another dock.
In my personal opinion a default position in the dock left|bottom would be more suitable... shared with the selection panel

Even if you have the Play panel open and undocked when you close the program, the panel reverts to docked on reopening.

Another aspect of the same problem. When you display the Play panel for the very first time it is docked by default. If you now double-click the top of the panel, it moves to the top-left of the screen (regardless of the size of the MuseScore window), and becomes stuck there. You have to close and reopen the program to reset it.
