Edit staff property and set long name or short name to e.g. 1st Trumpet or Harfen unis.. Close dialog and notice that HTML tag names are shown rather than text in superscript or subscript.
Doesn't happen for other common tags like b i u etc.

Comments

BTW while this can be achieved by editing the .mscx currently, the moment you make some other change to the instruments/staff properties it reverts back, so isn't really a workable solution.

You can also use the UCS superscript/subscript characters (although not all exist), copy/paste from:

sup ᵃᵇᶜᵈᵉᶠᵍʰⁱʲᵏˡᵐⁿᵒᵖ⁚ʳˢᵗᵘᵛʷˣʸᶻ⁰¹²³⁴⁵⁶⁷⁸⁹⁺⁻⁼⁽⁾ᴬᴮ⁚ᴰᴱ⁚ᴳᴴᴵᴶᴷᴸᴹᴺᴼᴾ⁚ᴿ⁚ᵀᵁⱽᵂ

The capital subscripts are really small caps (“Kapitälchen”) but they will do.

Getting the font right for these is… challenging, though.

On the other hand, in Lyrics, I’ve needed small caps and found that what MuseScore considers subscript is much too small. I now use regular caps temporarily sized down there, which isn’t correct either, as it makes the strokes narrower, whereas proper small caps use (almost) the same stroke width… though I somehow think MuseScore’s sub/sup just scale, too…
