OS: Windows 10 (10.0), Arch.: x86_64, MuseScore version (64-bit): 3.0.0, revision: 6e24695
Repro steps
- Open Master Palette
- Add a staff text
- While in text editing mode double click any Symbol from the Master Palette.
Expected: The symbol gets inserted in the staff text.
Actual: MS crashes.
Comments
Crash with text, Staff text, or Lyric, or Dynamics, Fingering, etc. - in Edit mode, or not.
But necessarly with double-click. No crash with drag and drop.

Drag and drop does not work to insert a symbol in a staff text.

It's a workaround, so, you can insert a symbol, by providing sufficient place between two letters. But thit not solves the main point of this issue.
Are you able to place a symbol inside a staff text? Could you provice detailed steps, please. I'm in need of this.

Type let's say "text". Edit text and provide the necessary space eg: "te xt".

Add a symbol on your score, and drag and drop between "e" and "x"

I see, you don't insert the symbol in the staff text but to the staff.
Are you able to change size of the symbol?

Normally, you could with Special characters which allows to change the size. But, currently, you come across this issue: #277729: Special characters window closes when clicked
The only way is to use the tool capture tool. The image of the symbol can be adapted to the desired size.
EDIT.... But it also seems that there is a problem with the addition of an image! (further investigation needed).
Edit (1): Done: #278118: Images can't be add to measures or remains sticked in frames
So, better to use the stable version 2.3.2 right now. :)
