Any way to provide a score and specific instructions to reproduce the problem? That's pretty mich a requirement for anyone to be able to track down the problem.
Slurs and ties (basically the same thing) are one part of MS that I've never had instability issues with. Maybe the nightly trunk build but not the 1.0/1.1 branch.
Slurs and ties aren't not really similar at all. In appearance, a bit, but completely different meaning, completely different methods of creating and working with them, etc.

I was making a link programmatically, not actual usage. That's why he's likely having issues with them, because they share code.
