Stem lengths
When an upward stemmed note is written in the third space or higher, or a downward stemmed note is written in the second space or lower, the stem is usually shortened. This shortening is normally progressive like in the attached Igor Engraver example. MuseScore, on the other hand, shortens all these stems to a minimal length of approximately 2 spaces. This should be corrected to a progressive order. A good default would be 3.25, 3, 2.75 and 2.5 instead of Igor Engraver's (approximately) 3.25, 3.25, 3, 3, 2.5. Ideally this feature should be optional so one could use the standard 3.5 spaces stem for all notes regardless of height on the staff, and adjustable so one can set the shortening progression and the shortest stem allowed.

I'm having problems with stem length. The lyrics are being obscured by the notes for voice 2. I've searched the handbook and forum but can't find a method of making the lyrics visible.
If you're having a problem figuring out how to do something, you should post a new thread in the Support forum, with a full description of the problem and a sample score to deomsntrate it if possible. This Issue Tracker is for reporting bugs, not asking for help.
