I can't stretch mm rests or move text associated with them. It was working fine when I stated the score, but now doesn't

Create full measure rests, ie Ctrl + A -> Ctrl + Shift + Del. (https://musescore.org/en/handbook/measure-rests#create-measure-rests), then press "M", and it's done: 1 Missa No.14 Horn I.mscz
In the future, please use first the forums support for such question.

EDIT: I thought it was necessary to create full measure rests by testing the file the first time. In fact, no, just "M". I was not yet fully awake probably!

My issue is not how to create a MM rest, it is once it is created I can't stretch it or move text associated with it. Look at page 4 measure 1 MM rest. It will not stretch, nor can I move the text without getting out of MM mode. The fist MM rest on page one works fine. This seems like bug (issue) not a forum question.

Indeed, there seems to be something wrong in this score, although I can't tell what. But if I enable multimeasure rests, I find most of them won't stretch, nor will text attached to them move.

BTW, I notice you have multiple text elements attached to the same empty measure in places. The algorithms for laying out text in multimeasure rests don't deal too well with that. It seems you have used system text for your movement titles, better to use frames (either vertical or text) for this. But this isn't the problems; it occurs even in measures with only a single text element. I've never seen this before. This remains true even if I delete the text and re-add it.

Anything unusual you can think of about how this score was created? Only thing I can see that is odd offhand is that the "empty" measures are not truly empty - they contain actual duration rests rather than the default full-measure rests. This leads me to suspect the score was imported from another source. Not that this in itself would explain anything.

This score was not imported. I started it from scratch. The duration rests came from entering them. I was copying a part for French horn in C so I could transpose it to F. I found it faster (for me) to hit the 0 on the key pad and keep my eyes on the music.
At first the stretch was working on all MM rests then stopped. I closed the software and reopened and things worked again for a short time. That trick no longer seems to help.

Hmm, your score doesn't have any multimeasure rests. And if those are switched on, I can stretch many of them but indeed not all.
What text associated with them can't you move?

Copnverting all rests to full measure rests and I can stretch all multi measure rests.

Here is what I was able to reproduce:

1) open score
2) press "M"
3) navigate to page 4
4) select first mmrest of Benedictus
5) press "}" as oiften as you like

Result: nothing

Now,

1) Select the "Allegretto" text above it
2) try to move it using Inspector, arrow keys, or drag

Result: nothing

I then tried turning multimeasure rests off again, deleting the duration rests and text, inserting new staff text, then enabling multimeasure rests again. No change: stretch doesn't work, nor does

The thing that is still odd about this score is that it appears to be be one part from a full score and appears to have links to that effect, but of course the rest of the score is missing. Was this generated from a full score using File / Parts and then saved to a separate file?

As for the full measure rests, it is still easier to keep these than to enter duration rests. Instead of selecting the duration and then pressing 0, simply press right arrow twice, or Ctrl+arrow once. Results will be better in general. But it won't fix this problem.

But, indeed, with JoJo's version in which all duration rests were replaced with full measure rests, everything does work - stretch as well as text. Very odd, and I cannot reproduce that result from scratch. So something else must be going on...

Version 2.3.2 / Windows10

1) Create a new score, and fill with notes and some empty measures, a few with a single empty measure.
The test file at this step: mm test.mscz

2) In Style -> General -> Tick "Create multimeasure rests", and set the "Minimum number of empty measures to 1" -> Ok

3) Increase or decrease the stretch of the two first MM rests (displaying 2 and 1, on first system)
Result: works as expected

4) Try the same thing with the subsequent mm rests (ie after the first mm rest displayed "1")

Result: failure

Ah, yes, setting the minimum mm rest to 2 was my first change.
As there won't be further 2.x fixes and master isn't affected I guess we should close this

Even there is no more fixes for 2.x, it's not fixed at all.
It will remain active with all 2x versions, for ever...

The first half of the score is from scratch score with only one part. The second half was in a separate scratch score with only one part. I them copy-pasted the second half into the first. (First half score file was unavailable but wanted to continue working). Niether score was an extract. From reading the chain I will try later tonight changing the MM setting to 2 or more and see if it fixes it in my version. If that doesn't work I'll try that plus changing all to full measure rests
