Now, second scenario (inverse)

2) Next → Next → Finish

Result : correct. But, if :

3) « I »
4) Select Staff 2 Tab
5) « Up » to move above the standard staff → OK

Result : the bass clef appears again on the standard staff.

Title Wrong clefs with linked staves Wrong clefs with linked staves and added staves

Title change for notify an other behavior of this bug. It concerns linked staves, but also staves simply added.

1) Create a new score for flute -> Next -> Finish
2) "I"
3) Select Staff1
4) Click on "Add Staff" -> don't change anything, so: Treble clef - Standard -> Ok

Result: bass clef on the second staff

Behavior is a little different.

In the original case: tab staff, add linked standard staff - the added staff is plain treble rather than treble 8vb. That's better than bass, but still not right.

In the case shown in response #2 - adding a second (normal, not linked) staff to a flute instrument - the staff is added as treble, as expected. But it's also added as treble if you add a second staff to a bass clef instrument. It looks like added staves are just always treble. Furthermore, if you generate parts, they always show as treble again. This had been the case a while ago but was fixed recently - #28471: Parts always generated with treble clef. I've reopened that one.

Latest commits broke this again.

Looking into it, hoping there will not be cross-changing again...

If I add staffs to the wind instruments when I create the score, the added staffs are treble clef, as they should be. If I add staffs to the wind instruments after I have been working on the score, they are bass clef. I am using Ver. 2.0.2, Rev. f51dc11 on a Mac.

Why are you adding staves to a wind instrument? That doesn't make sense; they don't use multiple staves. Maybe you meant to add a new instrument instead of adding a staff to an existing instrument?

If that doesn't answer you question, please ask in the Support forum rather than on a an already-closed issue report.

I am working off some old combo books for that had lead, 2nd, and 3rd parts. I am separating them out so each the six horn players in our group have the lead part on the upper staff and either the 2nd or 3rd part on the lower staff. We usually play through as a group the first time with two people playing the lead, then a couple of times through with people playing the lead line with embellishments or soloing off the chords. We move it between different horns every time. Having the lead line on all the charts with the 2nd and 3rd parts below makes it easy to adapt to how we are performing it. It works fine if I add the second stave to all the wind instruments when I create the score, but only a a few of them are correct when I add the staves after the score was created. Now that I know I can get the staves in the correct clef when I create the score, that is how I will do it.
