The invisible elements should NOT occupy any space, as if they never exist. Some of this have workaround while some do not. In the pic, it shows the arpeggios are set to be invisible, while notes still have distances.

Invisible rests also take up space. I found this a nuisance when trying to notate a piece for clarinet and piano with a cadenza in the piano part where the clarinet also had a note at the start of the measure. I used insert mode for the cadenza bar and had to fill the clarinet part with rests. I wanted the measure to look like a standard 3 beats long and so I made the "extra" rests that corresponded with the extended piano part invisible, but as they took up space, the clarinet part had a rather odd looking bar with a gap at the end.

For notes and rests, it's by design - it's a common method of achieving certainly special layout effects. If you want notes for playback purposes only, put them on an invisible staff instead. But indeed, there's not a good solution for the cadenza case, that should be considered separately, Feel free to start a forum topic about that.

But for arpeggios, it seems a bug indeed. Most elements do work as expected. If you find others that don't, please list them here, no reason not to fix them together.
