Ive tried to revert to factory settings in the way you described but still nothing. When it opens the terminal still gives me the same error. Is there anything else i can try?

@Olly98

We have tried to reproduce the problem but unsuccessful thus far on 10.11.1. This makes us believe that the problem is not linked with the Qt warning, but instead linked to something else.

Could you try to start MuseScore via the Terminal app using:

/Applications/MuseScore\ 2.app/Contents/MacOS/mscore -w

The -w will disable the Start Center. Let me know if this runs or not.

Still not working. This error pops up in the terminal:

Status (old) needs info fixed

The issue has seemingly resolved itself I'm not sure what happened but I left it for a few days and it now works. Thanks for your help.

Status (old) fixed needs info

While I'm glad that this particular case seems to have disappeared, there's unquestionably something that has the potential to cause a serious problem. As it may pop up again in the future, I feel it's important to keep this issue open.

I don't experience a crash, but I do not get any music playback. I thought it might be appropriate to post the issue under this thread because the error noted is the same as one posted above. I'm running El Capitan on a new 12" Macbook model. I hear the metronome fine, but no music. I tested this on the sample startup file included in the package. I checked that the synthesizer sound file is in the the application's ".../Resources/sound" directory. When I reset the app to defaults using the command line switch -F or use the -w switch, I still get "WARNING 140" about using the deprecated Carbon Component Manager that is noted above.

LewisHernyMorgan: most likely you have a simple isntallation issue (installed into different folder than expected or something like that). Try the instructions in the handbook under "Revert to factory settings". If that doesn't fix it (but it probably will), please ask for help in the support forum; this issue here seems unrelated.

rreyes11: you should also ask for help in the forum, after trying the revert. I have no particular reason to think the revert will fix it, but it is the first logical step. But your problem also seems probably unrelated to the one being discussed in this thread. When you post to the forum, be sure to give all relevant info - what OS (including what version), what version of MuseScore, also tell us if things work better if you try the "-w" or "-s" options.
