Suggestion: a way to follow, track or home in on the cursor or last change.
As soon as you press a keyboard button, the view pans to where the cursor/focus is.
This is the default behaviour in any word processor and spreadsheet software, and I cannot think of a reason why one would not want the focus anywhere other than where the change is happening, whether is is change of a note pitch (up/down) or cycling through one or more undo/redo operations.

= How to reproduce =
1) highlight a note
2) press up arrow to increase pitch
3) scroll away from the active note using Navigator
4a) Press the undo button (or)
4b) Press the down button to change the pitch

= Expected result =
The screen pans to the note being edited / change undone

= Actual result =
The change is performed or edit undone, but the screen does not pan

= Workaround =
When you "lose" your cursor, you can get the screen to pan to the highlighted note by pressing the left/right arrow keys.

(I am not in a position to test 2.2 or 3.0 builds, unfortunately)

Cannot see the issue persisting in OS: Manjaro Linux, Arch.: x86_64, MuseScore version (64-bit): 3.5.0, revision: 3543170

Both the described actions 4a. and 4b. make the viewport pan back to where the action is :)
